Today we have Amber Melton on with us who is an Assistant Athletic Trainer for a D2 college in FL She was an athlete in high school and grew up in an athletic and sports fan family. She spent a lot of time with the athletic trainer for personal injuries so she was exposed to this industry at a young age, which helped guide her into pursuing this field for a profession. She did her undergrad as a health sciences major and then went to a masters program for athletic training. Today we talk about what it takes to be an athletic trainer at the collegiate level. We also discuss what her typical day to day looks like, the relationships she has built with the athletes, why it is important for more women to pursue this field, and her favorite perks of being an athletic trainer. Amber also gives us some tips on how to find a job in today's market! I was surprised to learn that this is a female dominated industry & also was surprised that you have to sit for a board exam like a lawyer or a doctor does! Since she follows the sports and school's schedule she gets to have the summers off!!
